How to extend #Qixi greetings in foreign languages?

Aug. 9th marks this year's Qixi Festival, also known as the Double 7th Festival or the Chinese Valentine's Day.

As traditional Chinese culture has been increasingly appreciated worldwide for its richness and distinctiveness, the Qixi Festival has become a day not only celebrated by Chinese but also enjoyed by foreigners.

Here are Qixi greetings in different languages. Learn and share them with your partner on this special day!

The festival, which falls on the 7th day of the 7th month of the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, celebrates the annual meeting of the cowherd and weaver girl in Chinese mythology, whose love was forbidden.

They were separated by the Milky Way and could only meet once a year on Qixi, when magpies would form a bridge that allows the pair to reunite and profess their love.

People have been moved by their love story since ancient times and the tradition of celebrating Qixi has been preserved for over 2,000 years.

In 2006, the Qixi Festival was included in the China Intangible Cultural Heritage List along with the Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival by the State Council.
