2016 is the China-U.S. Tourism Year.

The U.S. West Coast city San Francisco and the state of Oregon have made great efforts to attract Chinese tourists.

Thursday, the Chinese Consul General in San Francisco, Luo Linquan, said in a forum on cooperation and security of the China-U.S. Tourism Year that China has become the United States' fourth largest tourist market, and tourism will boost the communication and mutual trust between the two countries.

"The number of Chinese tourists to the U.S. this year is expected to be more than five million, which is very helpful for people of the two countries to know better about each other."
According to the vice president of San Francisco Tourism Association, China has become the biggest overseas market to San Francisco. The association has launched a series of promotions on Chinese social media to attract young people and urban whiter-collars.

The northwestern state Oregon also takes China as its most potential overseas market.

The vice president of Oregon tourism committee said they already had some cooperation with Chinese tourism websites to promote the local resorts.
