“The Virgin of Guadalupe: Images in Colonial Mexico” exhibition debuts at The Bowers Museum in Southern California on Thursday.
Art works at the exhibition are assembled from 15 different museums, cultural centers and churches in Mexico, presenting 60 works of art, including paintings, sculpture, engravings, silver, textiles, and other devotional objects from 17th Century to 20th Century.
Taken together, these art works convey a religious, artistic, and festive image of Colonial Mexico. It is the first time for most of art works traveling to the United States, according to the museum.
